Measuring Time

We read a great book about a groundhog that stays awake and ends up seeing some of the celebrations that usually happen when groundhogs are hibernating.  This got us thinking about the months of the year, the seasons and the timing of certain celebrations.  Students were encouraged to think of the 12 months like the 12 numbers on the clock. They then ordered the months and placed the celebrations in their appropriate months.  We played several games help us remember the months in order and practiced thinking about what months come before or after.  Reading/using a calendar is an important life skill.  We will continue our investigation of the passage of time by using analog and digital clocks. We will be practicing reading, recording and showing the time.
