Our Classroom

Over the summer.  I had a lot of fun setting up our space with different learning areas and materials that I thought we might need, use and enjoy.  Our space will change as we see different needs arise, but here is a peek at some of the areas you will see in our room or hear your child talk about.

 Our desks are currently arranged in tables/groups of 4.  Each student has a basket of materials that they may need to complete work.  Students are responsible for their materials and I will check from time to time that they are keeping track of their belongings.  

 Our classroom library!  We have books at a variety of levels.  We have picture books, chapter books and books to match the interests of both boys and girls!  

 Our Mailboxes!  We can send letters to one another and I can put any notes that need to go into mailbags/planners into individual boxes so that we can stay organized.  This area of the classroom is also were we put our finished and unfinished class work and homework so that it doesn't get misplaced! 

The Listening Center 

 The Light Table (we also have sensory bins hidden underneath because Grade 2 students still like to play in sand and water sometimes)!

 Our Math Tools/Manipulatives!

The Discovery Shelf and Word Building Shelf!   

 The Writing Center.....complete with extra markers, crayons, pencil crayons, scissors, glue, pencils, highlighters, rulers, whiteboards etc.

The computers and small group teaching area! 

 The indoor recess shelf complete with games and building materials!  

The daily schedule is posted right inside the door so students can check to see what we have going on each day.  We also post our classroom jobs here and record words we are working on and general reminders here.  The bottom board is our attendance board.  Students move a magnet to indicate if they are present each day.  If they leave the room for any reason, they also have to move their magnet so I can keep track of who is in/out each day!
