Sorting, Tallying and Graphing!

During Math, we read one of my favourite books, Grandma's Button Box.  We talked about sorting and practiced sorting objects into a Venn Diagram (which we decided was kind of like a fancy button box).  We sorted buttons and letters using this sorting tool!

We also practiced our sorting skills when organized the data we had gathered about our classmates.  Working as a team, students shared this task and created a graph together which they then shared with the class.  We certainly found out a lot about each other.

We reviewed tallying (especially creating tidy bundles of 5 and counting by 5s) so that we can read data that has been shown in tallies or gather data and show it in tallies prior to graphing.  The students played the 'Tally O'Mally' game with a partner to practice this skill.

Stay tuned for more great graphing and data management! We're just getting started!
